A VoIP telephone, also known as a SIP phone or Softphone, uses technology Voice Over IP (VoIP) for making and transmitting telephone calls over an IP network such as the Internet.
The VoIP technology converts standard telephone audio into digital format,
which can be transmitted over the Internet. It also converts incoming digital telephone signals received from the Internet in a typical telephone sound. The VoIP phone can be a simple phone software or a hardware device that looks a lot like an ordinary phone.
Through a VoIP phone, users can make phone calls using VoIP technology to any soft phone, mobile or landline. A VoIP phone can be a simple soft phone using suitable software or a hardware device resembling a standard telephone.
